Leroy Harm Meyer passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at his residence in Fulda, MN, of breathing complications due to asbestosis and COPD. He looked forward to his heavenly home; quietly singing to anyone who visited him recently, “What a day that will be when my Jesus I shall see.” Leroy was born on a farm near Wilmont, MN, the eldest son of Harm and Lena Meyer. In 1952, Lee joined the United States Navy and was assigned to the USS Renville, serving during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1956. Leroy married Beverly Rosenberg in 1954; they were blessed with three children. In 1967, they purchased a farm near Reading. Lee and Bev were active in their church and community and loved seeing family, fishing, vacationing at resorts in northern Minnesota, and traveling throughout the United States. In great sadness, he was widowed in 2005. In 2006, he married Karen Jungjohan. Lee and Karen enjoyed gardening, fishing, and attending gospel quartet concerts. They moved to their new home in Fulda, MN in January of 2020. Leroy recently entered hospice care and left this earth at the age of 88 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, and step grandpa. Lee loved singing - most notably, he sang with the SW Connection barbershop quartet for over thirty years.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Beverly; grandchild, Baby Boy Meyer; four brothers-in-law, Maurice Rosenberg, Stanley Rosenberg, Gene Strouth, and Norman Rosenberg; four sisters-in-law, Ida Rosenberg, Maddie Rosenberg, Phyllis Strouth, and Marilyn Rosenberg; step-grandson, Daniel, and two step great grandchildren, Avery and Ender.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Karen; three children, Colleen (Rev. Thomas) Braun, Gail (Rev. Jeffrey) Lee, and Rev. Monte (Nadine) Meyer; Karen’s five children, Sonya Sargent (fiancé Mark Hall), Dwayne (Deb) Hakeneis, Michael (Cheri) Hakeneis, Monica Strand, and Amanda (Dan) Feste; brother, Gary Meyer; four sisters-in-law, Judy Van Westen, Dianne Gilmore, Carolyn Jungjohan, and Jody (Jeff) Vander Bush; eight grandchildren, Jessica (Thomas) Thomsen, Cori Lee, Darren (Amy) Braun, Brian (Stephanie) Lee, Curtis (Laura) Braun, Sarah (Peter) Rinderknecht, Emily (Dr. Nicholas) Cooley, and Peter Meyer; ten great grandchildren; a great great grandchild, as well as many step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Evangelical Church in Fulda, MN. Visitation will continue on Monday, October 18, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Evangelical Church in Fulda, MN, with Pastor Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery near Rushmore, MN.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
