Obituary for Leah Margaret Lundahl

Worthington, Minnesota      Leah Margaret Sweeney Lundahl, age 92, of Worthington, MN passed away at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN on Tuesday, November 20, 2007.     Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 24, 2007, at First Lutheran Church, Worthington, with Rev. Richard Ricker officiating.  Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis-St. Paul.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services on Saturday.     Leah was born September 17, 1915 in Rolla, North Dakota to James Allen and Anna Elizabeth (Harala) Sweeney.  She was the youngest of 4 children:  Viola, Beatrice and Myron.  Leah completed high school in Rolette, North Dakota and later married her high school principal, Arnold Lundahl in Mott, North Dakota on August 26, 1935.  The couple moved to Minneapolis where for several years Leah was employed in banking until moving to semi-retirement in Worthington in 1973.  Arnold died April 16, 1980.     After Arne’s death, Leah learned to drive and became an active and dedicated member of First Lutheran Church serving on several church committees as officer and/or member and also on the South West MN Church Synod call committee E.L.C.A.  She was a member of Business and Professional Women, 20th Century Club, Christian Women’s, helped organize the South West Child Evangelism fellowship and American Legion Auxiliary.     Leah enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking, shopping, reading and crafts.  Leah loved the Vikings (except when they were playing against the Dallas Cowboys) and the Minnesota Twins.  Above all she delighted in spending quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.     She will be missed by her daughter, Peg (Larry) Ruesch, three grandchildren, Lisa (Tim) Scholtes, Mark (Heidi) Ruesch, Anne (Mark) Wagner, seven great-grandchildren, Jennifer Marie, Peter Allen and Alexander Matthew Scholtes; Haley Anne, Lexy Helen-Leah and Madison Lynne Ruesch; Ashley Anne Wagner; sister, Bea Moll of Moorhead, MN; and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Leah is greeted in heaven by her husband, Arne, her parents, sister, Viola and brother, Myron.     Blessed be her memory.     The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers.Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
