Obituary for Larry Eugene Kannengiesser

Rushmore, Minnesota     Larry Eugene Kannengiesser, 52, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Larry had been diagnosed with pulmonary artery disease in 1999 at the Mayo Clinic and was in need of a lung transplant.     Larry was born on September 4, 1956 in Worthington, MN. He was the son of Loran and Ruth Brunk Kannengiesser.He attended elementary school in Rushmore, MN and high school in Worthington, graduating in 1974. While Larry was going to school he worked for many area farmers hauling grain and doing farm work. Larry went on to further his education at Jackson Vocational School to study Production Agriculture and Farm Management for two years. After graduating from Jackson, Larry took over the family farm, and worked for Kempema Bus Service for several years. Larry also hauled snow, for the City of Worthington.     Larry was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Worthington and drove the church bus for numerous years.He was an active 4-H and FFA member showing livestock, electrical, and woodwork projects.     Larry enjoyed his time hunting, fishing, taking pictures, collecting farm toys, and riding his 4-wheeler and motorcycle.      Larry is survived by his mother, Ruth Kannengiesser of Rushmore, MN; one uncle; aunts, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his father in 1966.     Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Wayne Krohe officiating. Casket bearers will be Gene Brunk, Bill Brunk, John Brunk, Roger Brunk, Cindy Brunk, and Christopher Duis.l. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Worthington.Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
