Obituary for LaVonne Carol Lillie

Worthington, MN

     LaVonne Carol Lillie was born March 30, 1944 at New Ulm, MN, the daughter of Harold and Fanchon (Fauskee) Johnson of Worthington, MN. LaVonne was united in marriage to John Lillie on February 10, 1973. LaVonne was a life long resident of Worthington other than 1 year in California as her husband completed his Navy career.
     Prior to marriage, LaVonne worked at Johnson Jewelry. LaVonne will be remembered as an avid and exceptional golfer with her first of 2 hole-in-one shots at age 12. She won the Worthington Country Club Women’s Club Championship 18 times and LaVonne and John won the Couples Club Championship 9 times. She will be missed in the annual Turkey Day Parade driving her vintage red Pontiac convertible. Besides her public activities, she also had a heart for assisting a number of elderly friends with their needs.
     LaVonne is survived by her husband, John Lillie, brothers, James (Joanne) Johnson of Worthington, William (Ellen) Johnson of Oconomowoc, WI, sisters-in-law, Carol Boehm of Hartland, WI, Delores Krietlow of Milwaukee, WI and Althea Lillie of Wauwatosa, WI, many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
     LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Fanchon Johnson, an infant brother, and brother-in-law, Richard Lillie.
     LaVonne passed away April 2, 2010 following emergency heart surgery.
     Visitation will be held at Benson Funeral Home, Worthington, MN on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, 408 11th Street, Worthington, MN at 10:00 a.m. with 1 hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Gordon Orde will officiate. Casket bearers will be Jeff Flynn, Fritz Korthals, Mike Johnson, Dave Westerlund, Kaye Johnson, and Velma Cortright. Burial will follow at the Worthington Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Worthington Hospice Inc. or UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief).
