Obituary for LaVonne Ann Pfeil

LaVonne Ann Pfeil, age 82, was born on November 13, 1935 to Louie and Elizabeth (Schmidt) Pomerenke. She attended country school, graduated from Okabena High School and then attended Worthington Jr. College. LaVonne married Henry Pfeil on November 9, 1957. After their marriage, they moved to a farm southwest of Worthington on Lake Ocheda where they farmed and raised livestock. They were blessed with two children, Michael Pfeil and Jolene Pfeil (Kuhl).
LaVonne was a secretary for the Jr. College, High School, and Jr. High when it was all in the now Memorial Auditorium. She also worked jobs in Worthington at the Fabric Center, the school administration office, and at Worthington Federal Savings until her retirement. All the time she worked full time, she would come home and work on the farm and help take care of 8,000 chickens and livestock. LaVonne loved to sew, cook, and refinish furniture and antiques. She loved rummage sales and collecting antiques. LaVonne prided herself on keeping the yard and flowers nice until August of 2017, when she moved into Worthington. Mom & Dad loved square dancing and were members of the Turkey Trotters. Mom loved music and could play piano, accordion, and saxophone by ear. Music was an important part of our lives. Their son, Michael had a band “The Troublemakers” for 25 years and LaVonne loved going and listening to them. LaVonne died on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at Ecumen Meadows in Worthington, MN.
LaVonne is survived by son, Michael (fiancée Deb Andrews) of Tea, SD and his son, Levi Pfeil and special friend, Jessica Drawbridge and daughter, Jolene (Burdell) Kuhl of Worthington, MN and their children, Amery Kuhl (Samantha) along with their children, Henry, Mackenzie, Brody, and baby girl due in October, Kristi (Adam Bauer), Mindy Kuhl, and Kayli Kuhl; two sisters, Lois Behrens and Marles (Robert) Lange, and one brother, Delbert (Janice) Pomerenke. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Phyllis, MaryAnn, and Bonnie. LaVonne was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 2013; her parents; four brothers, Loren, Eldon, Donald, and Kenneth, and a sister-in-law, Gerry.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Dr. Daren I. Flinck officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Methodist Night Light Circle or Nobles County Historical Society.
