Obituary for LaDonna Renae Carlson

LaDonna Renae Carlson was born on June 16, 1972, in Worthington, MN. LaDonna was the daughter of Donald and Marian (Johnson) Voss. She was baptized at Indian Lake Baptist Church on September 14, 1986. LaDonna graduated from Sioux Valley Round Lake Brewster in 1990 and in the following fall she continued her schooling in Spirit Lake, IA where she studied Cosmetology.
On September 21, 2000, LaDonna was united in marriage to Scott Carlson at Indian Lake Baptist Church. Together they raised two children Sonja Peters and Austin Carlson. After they were married they settled on a small acreage near Round Lake. She worked as a cook in multiple places including Swift, the Travelodge, and the Sunset Grill.
LaDonna passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center at the age of 47.
LaDonna was very active in helping her husband Scott with the scouting unit 134 out of the Worthington Area. She helped the scouts grow in numbers and have a bright and strong future. She had a big voice that helped get the scouts a new cabin at the Worthington Regional Park. Her favorite thing to do was cook and make sure that no matter the event that there was plenty of food, and everyone was filled and happy when they left. When it came to the holidays she never disappointed! At Thanksgiving she made enough pie so that everyone had their own to enjoy. Around Christmas time, LaDonna made many memories with her daughter as they made more cookies and candies for everyone to have and enjoy.
She is survived by her loving husband Scott Carlson of Round Lake; two children, Sonja Peters (23) and Austin Carlson (18); father Donald Voss of Round Lake; sisters, Jolene (Marlyn) Nystrom, Diana (Steve) Johnson, Laurie (Curt) Chergosky; brothers, Darvin (Gail) Voss and Duane Voss; mother-in-law, Anita Carlson, father-in-law, Lowell Carlson, and brother-in-law, Bill Schure; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and many friends.
LaDonna was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Voss; brother-in-law, John Behrens; sister-in-law, Jill Schure, and grandparents, Clarence and Helen Johnson and Albert and Gertrude Voss.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., at the Indian Lake Baptist Church rural Worthington, with Pastor Jonathan Larson officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
