Obituary for Kevin Karl Martell

Marshall, MN

Kevin Karl (Bert) Martell, age 62, died on February 12, 2017, at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born on October 6, 1954, in Marshall, MN, the son of Milbert and Lorraine (Hopp) Martell. Kevin was baptized on October 24, 1954 and confirmed on April 7, 1968 at Christ Lutheran in Marshall. His confirmation verse was John 11:25-26. Kevin attended Marshall Public Schools and SMSU earning degrees in Art Education and English. He married Sherri Roberts on February 14, 1987 and they later divorced. Kevin married Lori Henning on July 20, 2013. He taught in several Marshall area schools, worked in California and Marshall Hy-Vee Bakery for thirteen years after returning from California.
Kevin is survived by his wife Lori; daughter Meredith Martell and Jose Lozano along with their children Mercedez, Junior, Johnny, Joelee and Ohana of Balaton, MN; son Collin of Marshall; sister Karen Friedrichs of San Jose, CA; brother Kent Martell of Minneapolis, MN; parents-in-law Twila and Ed Henning of Marshall, and sister-in-law and nephew, Lisa and Damien Henning of Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother Glendon, and infant grandson Joevonnie.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., at Grace Life Church in Marshall, MN, with a visitation at 1:00 p.m. with family present. A private burial of cremains will be held earlier in the day.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
