Obituary for Kathryn Wallace

Worthington, Minnesota

Kathryn Krampitz Wallace was born on July 11, 1923, in Buffalo, Minnesota. She spent her early years in Buffalo, but attended church in Maple Lake, and it was at a church event that Kathryn met Doug Wallace, who became her husband on June 30, 1943. After Doug's return from the service, Kathryn and Doug lived in Maple Lake for a brief time before settling in Worthington to make their home. On May 1, 2009, Kathryn was freed from the bondage of multiple sclerosis and macular degeneration and into the arms of her Lord and Savior.

Kathryn and Doug were active members of Westminster Presbyterian Church where Kathryn sang in the choir. Kathryn loved playing bridge with her friends in her neighborhood bridge group. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, and worked for a time at Harpers clothing store.

Kathryn and Doug belonged to The Worthington Country Club where they enjoyed playing golf. They were active in attending their son, Rick's school and sporting events. In later years, they enjoyed spending time in Mesa, Arizona.

In 2001, Kathryn and Doug moved to the Crossroads Care Center. Doug passed away in October 2006.

Kathryn was predeceased by her parents, Selma and Henry Krampitz, her brother, Dr. Lester Krampitz, her husband, Doug Wallace, and is survived by her son, Rick Wallace and wife, Julie, of Dallas, Texas, sister, Ione Rieder, of Watertown, MN, niece, Yvonne Sandell, and husband, Paul, of Mounds View, MN, and nephew, Chuck Rieder of Watertown, MN., and many other friends and cousins.

Special thanks to the staff of Crossroads Care Center for taking such good care of Kathryn and Doug during recent years. Thank you to Karen Rye for all the special attention given to Kathryn.

A memorial service celebrating Kathryn’s life will be at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington on Thursday August 13, 2009 at 11:00 am. A graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd. Minneapolis on Saturday, August 15 at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathryn’s name can be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Clary Street, Worthington, MN 56187 or National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163.
