Obituary for Kathleen Ann Keith

Kathleen Ann Keith left for her home with Jesus this Monday, February 3, 2020, 73 years old. She was surrounded by loving family and friends for the last several months while she bravely faced the final challenges that life had presented to her, always cheerful, always smiling. Born January 27, 1947 to Ruby Sorem Keith and Max Keith in Worthington, Minnesota, Kathy was ever the venturesome one. She played tennis, was an accomplished pianist, active in MYF, an entertaining impressionist; she brightened everybody’s day with her beautiful blue eyes.
A 1965 graduate of Worthington High School she enjoyed playing in the band, was the vivacious little star in the sailor uniform in the Junior Class play, cheered on the Trojan athletes when they needed a boost, and added great levity to the Junior High fashion show with the balloon dress of her own design. She worked a variety of jobs in Worthington including Ahlf Drug, the Worthington Bus Depot and the golf course. She graduated with an Associate degree from Worthington Junior College, and then attended the University of Minnesota while also working and travelling. Kathy at various times was a bank teller, worked retail sales and volunteered at Crossroads Care Center. Painting was her passion for years, creating works of art that the family now cherishes.
For over a decade Kathy was the loving caregiver for her mother and father, enabling them to stay in their home of almost 60 years as they aged. In her last years, Kathy’s three-wheeler was seen all over town, visiting and greeting countless friends, old and new. Everybody seemed to have a happy memory of Kathy. She was on a first-name basis with all the regulars at Perkins and the Ground Round. Always mindful and considerate of others, very few knew this vibrant lady had overcome so many trials. She will be missed.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby and Max, numerous Uncles, Aunts and cousins; two cousins KIA (Robert Sorem WWII and Kellum Grant -Viet Nam). She is survived by siblings Sheldon (Donna) – Naperville, IL; Douglas (Jeannie) – Edgerton, MN; Steven (Blanche) – Plymouth, MN; Carolyn Baker (David) – Eagle Lake, MN; Aunt Patricia Keith Talen (Jim) – Rochester, MN; 11 nieces and nephews; and 29 grand nieces and nephews.
Kathleen’s life will be celebrated on Saturday February 8th, 2020 at the Benson Funeral Home / 1225 Ryans Rd / Worthington, MN. Visitation at 1pm, service at 2pm with a reception and light lunch following.
The family is deeply touched by the many friends from Worthington, and across the country, and the staff at South Shore Care Center, that have reached out in love to our dear sister. Thank you.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
