June Rose Thomsen, 91, was born on June 12, 1921, near Strongfield, Saskatchawan, Canada. She was named June Rose because the wild roses were blooming in Canada at the time of her birth. June was the daughter of Walter T. and Johanna (Atzen) Schlapkohl. At 8 years of age, she moved with her family to Round Lake, MN. She was confirmed in April of 1934 at the First Presbyterian Church in Round Lake. June graduated from Round Lake High School in 1939 and attended Worthington Junior College.

While living there, June styled hair for many friends and local ladies in town. She worked as a bookkeeper for Watson & Thomsen Construction in Round Lake until 1972. In 1965, they moved to a home on the west side of Indian Lake, where there was always a pot of fresh brewed egg coffee on her stove. In 2002, she moved to the Meadows in Worthington, where she met many new wonderful friends. She moved to the South Shore Care Center in February of 2012.
June was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Round Lake, singing in the choir for many years, served as Trustee and was on the building committee and awarded the Honorary Life Membership of Presbyterian Women. She was involved with the March of Dimes, belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary in Round Lake and was a 2nd District Delegate. June was also an American Red Cross Blood Mobile Coordinator, herself donating seventeen gallons of blood and a Worthington Regional Hospital Auxiliary Associate Member. June died on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN.
June is survived by son, Roland (Jolene) Thomsen of Round Lake, MN; two daughters, Connie Jansen of Worthington, MN, and Jeanne (Denny) Rutzen of Pelican Rapids, MN; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, infant son, parents, sister, and two brothers.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Round Lake, MN, with Rev. Robert Bartlett officiating. Burial will be held in the Round Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
