Worthington, MN

     Judith “Judy” Baumgarn, 80, was born on April 18, 1931 in Logan, OH, the daughter of Dr. D. Chauncey and Velma (Conkle) Reynolds. In 1937, Dr. Reynolds purchased his own optometry business and jewelry store in Greenwich, OH. Her father purchased his family brick home that his father built. She had loving and caring parents and sisters. They had a real working farm although it was right across from the high school. Judy sang in the choirs many years, Junior and Senior Choirs in the Methodist Church. In high school, she was privileged to sing with two of her friends at churches, meetings and in contests.
     Ray Baumgarn came to town in 1947. He studied the printing business with his brother-in-law after World War II. They were married on August 5, 1949 and were blessed with three boys, Brian, Curt and Jeff. Ray worked in three town papers and one large daily paper in Ohio. Judy was a homemaker and also worked at the hospital in Crestline, OH. Judy and Ray moved to Worthington in 1972 when they purchased Worthington Printing Company. After their retirement, they continued to assist Jeff until May of 2011. Judy died on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.
     Judy is survived by her husband, Ray of Worthington, MN; three sons, Brian Baumgarn of Sioux Falls, SD, Curt Baumgarn of Arlington, TX and Jeff (Deb) Baumgarn of Worthington, MN; grandchildren, Beth (John) Davis; Evan and Allison Baumgarn, and Katerina, Emily and Gretchen Baumgarn; great grandchildren, Faith Davis and Naomi, JuliEtta and Remington Baumgarn; sister, Eugenia (John) Gilger; brother-in-law, Robert Young, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Felicia Young.
     Visitation will held on Saturday, October 8, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. Private family services will follow with Pastor Joe Behnke officiating. Burial will be held in the Sioux Valley Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to St. Matthew Lutheran Altar Guild or Client Community Services, Inc.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
