Judith “Judy” A. Bramel, age 73, of Worthington, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Windom Area Hospital. She was born August 21, 1941 in Heron Lake, MN to Emil and Benita (Fest) Christopherson. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Heron Lake and Heron Lake High School, graduating in 1959. After high school she attended Mankato Commercial College.
Judy married her true love Terry Bramel on November 28, 1959, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. After their marriage, the couple farmed for 6 years near Dundee before moving to Worthington in 1965. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for several local businesses before opening her own business, Judy's Bookkeeping.
Judy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was a song leader and sang in the choir. She was active in Engaged Encounter and Marriage Encounter. Judy enjoyed playing cards, walking, camping, traveling, and spending time with family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She was a volunteer for the hospital auxiliary.
Judy is survived by her husband, Terry; four children: Gary (Jodie), Holy Cross, IA; Greg (Norma), Little Canada; David (Dawn), St. Paul; Daryl (Brenda), Woodbury; eight grandchildren: Zachary (Emily), Alec, Nathan, Sam, Emily, Christopher, Sydney, and Sophia; two brothers: Bill (Marilyn) Fest, Heron Lake; Jerry (Deb) Christopherson, Heron Lake; one sister: Joyce Hurley, Champaign, IL; nieces & nephews: Mark (Lisa) Fest, Kris (Brian) Bosma, Tom Fest, Nikki (Gabe) Kay, Chad (Cally), and Steve Hurley.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Neil; and two nephews, Kelly and Paul Fest.
Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father James Callahan officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
