Obituary for Joseph Raymond Lambert

Round Lake, MN

     Joseph “Joe” Raymond Lambert, 84, was born on February 3, 1925, in Spirit Lake, IA, the son of Roy and Josephine (Berg) Lambert. He grew up in Spirit Lake and farmed with his dad and brothers until serving in the United States Army from 1949-1951. He was stationed in Fort Riley, KS, Camp Carson, CO, Camp Chaffee, AK, and in Korea, receiving a purple heart for his service. Joe married Inez Beuthien on July 17, 1954, in Sioux Falls, SD. He bought a farm in March of 1954 and he and Inez farmed until his retirement in 1970. Joe worked for Sather’s in Round Lake from 1969-1990, retiring as general foreman of the warehouse. He was a member of the American Legion in Round Lake and the VFW in Spirit Lake. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, and spending time at their cabin up north on upper/lower Mission Lake. Joe died on Friday, December 4, 2009, at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
     Joe is survived by two daughters, Pat Bartlett of Round Lake, MN, and special friend Rudy Schroer, and Deb and Pete Olson of Litchfield, MN; two sons, Randy Lambert of Round Lake, MN, and Steve and Mary Lambert of Clear Lake, MN; daughter-in-law, Barb Lambert of Worthington, MN; ten grandchildren, Chad Bartlett, Joette (Andrew) Johnson, Jaci (Curt) Talberg, Joshua Lambert, Joseph Lambert, Kristina Lambert and fiancé Joe Buhs, Lela Lambert, Viktor Lambert, Jeremiah Lambert, and Rosalina Lambert; four great grandchildren, Bryce, Jayden, Wyatte, and Jamisen; honorary grandchild, Rosie Ritchie-Stabno and great grandchild, Zachery; three sisters, Eloise Lambert of Spirit Lake, IA, Mary (Chet) Phillips of Spirit Lake, IA, and Dorothy Ukasick of Sioux Falls, SD; one brother, Lawrence Lambert of Milford, IA; one sister-in-law, Molly Lambert, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Inez; parents, Roy and Josephine Lambert; brothers and wives, Elmer and Julia Lambert and Jim and Alice Lambert; brother, Wiley Lambert; sister-in-law, Louise Lambert, and brother-in-law, Steve Ukasick.
     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Round Lake, MN, with Rev. Robert Bartlett officiating. Casket bearers will be Joe’s grandsons, Chad Bartlett and Joshua Lambert and nephews, Bill Lambert, Dave Lambert, Tom Lambert, John Lambert, and Delbert Lambert. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren, Joette, Jaci, Joseph, Kristina, Lela, Viktor, Jeremiah, Rosalina, and Rosie. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Memorial Gardens in Spirit Lake, IA.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 7, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
