Windom, MN
     John Joseph McCarvel, age 62, was born on May 3, 1951, in Heron Lake, MN, the son of Joseph and Marie (Salentiny) McCarvel.
     A farm kid at heart, he was an FFA and 4-H member. John graduated from Brewster High School in 1969. He attended Willmar Vocational School where he became a welder. John moved to Jackson, MN in May of 1974 and worked for Ag Chem (AGCO) assembling sprayers and Terra Gators. He continued to work there until 2010.
     John enjoyed reading newspapers and magazines, spending time with, and traveling with his nieces and nephews. He also enjoyed working with his brothers and family farming on the weekends, mowing lawn, and sipping Jack Daniels. John was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster and a member of the Worthington Optimist Club where he enjoyed helping kids.
     John died on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the Windom Area Hospital in Windom, MN.
     John is survived by siblings, twin brother, Mike (Bev) McCarvel, Brewster, Bonnie (Jim) Nagel, St. Louis, MO, Thomas McCarvel, Bloomington, MN, and Ronnie (Julie) McCarvel, Brewster; nephews and nieces, Paul & Angie McCarvel and their children, Alexis and Emily, Tea, SD, Dan & Hillary McCarvel and their children Alex and Mikayla, Shakopee, MN, Lisa & Ryan Hanson and their children Blake and Mikenzie, Andover, MN, Taylor, Logan and Abby McCarvel, Brewster, MN, Brian & Sarah (Nagel) Guilfoyle and their son Cole, St. Charles, MO, and Courtney Nagel, St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Marie McCarvel and an infant sister, Judy Marie McCarvel.
     Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster, MN, with Father Russell Scepaniak officiating. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Brewster.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial donations are preferred to the Good Samaritan Home in Windom, MN or the Worthington Optimist Club in Worthington, MN.
