Obituary for Johanna Heimensen

Worthington, Minnesota      Johanna Heimensen, 87, was born on July 26, 1920, in Matlock, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Grace Mulder Korthals.  She attended school in Matlock.  Johanna married Erwin Heimensen on April 18, 1940, in Matlock.  After their marriage, they lived near Sanborn, Iowa, until moving to a farm near Matlock.  In 1952, they moved to Minnesota, where they continued to farm.  They retired in 1969 and moved to Worthington, Minnesota.  She enjoyed crocheting and gardening.  Johanna died on Wednesday, December 19, 2007, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, Minnesota.     Johanna is survived by one son, Roger (JoAnn) Heimensen, of Worthington, Minnesota, one daughter, Edna (James) Brake, of Bayfield, Colorado; two grandchildren, Travis (Becky) Heimensen, of Blaine, Minnesota, and Joan (Brian) Hanson, of Durango, Colorado; two great grandchildren, Jedehia and Brittany Hanson; one sister, Gertrude Harms, of Hartley, Iowa, and one brother, Herman (Shirley) Korthals, of Culver City, California.  She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Cheryl, two sisters, and one brother.     Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 28, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, Minnesota, with the Rev. Ken Honius officiating.  Casket bearers will be Darwin Dau, Richard Cam, Joel Lorenz, Norman Gravenhof, Ryan Gravenhof, and Larry Wasmund.  Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Matlock, Iowa.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
