Obituary for Jessie V. Dyke

Worthington, Minnesota Jessie V. Dyke, 90, of Worthington, was born on October 8, 1915, in Westport Township, Dickinson County, IA, the daughter of Albert Lester and Maggie (Wright) Flint. She attended grade school in Everly, IA, and graduated from Everly High School in 1932. Jessie married Lester L. Dyke, of Hospers, IA, on June 27, 1936, in Spencer, IA. They lived in Lakefield, MN, for a time and then moved to a farm in Maple Lake, MN. They came back to a farm near Jackson, MN, and later moved to South Dakota, near Raymond. In 1956, they moved to their farm near Round Lake, MN. They retired and moved to Worthington, MN, in 1978. Jessie had a very strong faith and taught Sunday school in her younger years. She was currently a member of the American Reformed Church in Worthington. Jessie served on the school board while living in South Dakota. She wintered in Florida and enjoyed traveling with her husband, remodeling, and carpentry. Jessie died on Thursday, April 20, 2006, at the Sibley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sibley, IA. Jessie is survived by two sons, David (Carol) Dyke, of Sioux Falls, SD, and Richard (Susan) Dyke, of Worthington, MN; five grandchildren, Paul (Lori), John (Sue), Brian, Jennifer, and Derek; four great grandchildren, and one brother, Marion (LolaBelle) Flint, of Lake Park, IA. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., at the American Reformed Church in Worthington, MN, with the Rev. Irwin VanLeeuwen officiating. Jessie’s grandchildren served as casket bearers. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2006, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and on Monday, April 24, 2006, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the American Reformed Church in Worthington.
