Worthington, MN

      Jeanne LaVonne (Albers) Nunamaker was born on June 18, 1925 in Worthington, Minnesota, the daughter of John C. and Dorothy (Petersen) Albers. She attended Worthington Schools graduating in 1943. Upon completion of high school she attended Mounds Midway School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. On August 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to Earl Nunamaker in Worthington. The couple spent the next two years living in St. Paul before returning to Worthington. Jeanne worked at Worthington Regional Hospital, before becoming the occupational health nurse at Campbell’s Soup for 25 years. Earl passed away on March 5, 1992. Jeanne continued to live in her home until she moved to the Towers. When Jeanne was in her 70’s she and her friend Gratia, drove to the Denver Seminary Senior School in Estes Park Colorado to attend a special bible study called Senior School. For the last five years she lived at South Shore Care Center. Jeanne Nunamaker passed away on July 3, 2013 at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center at the age of 88 years and fifteen days.
      Jeanne was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Worthington. She was very active there; attending bible studies, singing in a women’s trio, helping to fold bulletins weekly, a member of the church choir, and a coordinator for Meals on Wheel. She was an active member of the 20th Century Study Club, the hospital auxiliary, was a hospice volunteer, and functioned as the historian for the local Christian Women’s Club. She also had strong friendships with many of the pastors, especially Pastor Lloyd Johnson and his wife Neva. Jeanne had a passion for growing roses. She enjoyed reading, singing, playing the piano and organ, knitting, and crocheting. Being a part of the Prairie Pals in Purple Red Hat Group was a great joy in her life. Jeanne was a very friendly, outgoing, and welcoming person.
      Jeanne was survived by her two children Joanne (Randy) Duba of Coon Rapids, Minnesota and John (Peggy) Nunamaker of Omaha, Nebraska, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her special friends Ruth and Lowell Nystrom of Worthington, with an additional 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
      She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, and her close cousin Russell Hawkinson.
      Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Brian Frodermann officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery near Rushmore, MN.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Worthington, MN.
