Jim’s Journey

July 21, 1930 – November 23, 2017

On July 21, 1930 in Windom, MN, Glenn and Myrtle Kinsman were blessed with the birth of their third son, James Winton Kinsman.
Soon thereafter, they moved to Worthington. Jim grew up here along with his two brothers, Richard and Roger. He enjoyed sports and music.

After graduating from WHS, Jim joined his father working at the Standard Oil Service Station. He was offered an opportunity at the age of 26 to purchase Worthington Monument Company. Discovering he enjoyed the business world, he explored other business ventures through the years including a NAPA Auto Parts Store, Staco Tile Company in AZ, Real Estate and a Culligan Soft Water Company.

From early on, music was an integral part of his life. Singing in a high school quartet, playing with Tiny Little, singing in and directing church choirs in Worthington and Arizona, leading music in Kiwanis, playing baritone in City Band and The Circus Band all kept him challenged and entertained along the way.

He was blessed with and by his devoted wife, Dottie, five children; Cheri Peterson, David, Thomas, Laurie Rasner-Proud, and Sandie Robinette; twelve Grand-Children, and fifteen Great-Grandchildren.

Always ready with a kind word and quick wit we are thankful for the values, work-ethic, and faithfulness he modeled for us.

We are blessed by each of you who intersected his life and walked with him a while on this journey. Thank you for joining with us to sympathize and celebrate with us as we bid our Husband, Father, Papa, and Grandpa farewell.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and not of yourselves, it is a gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9
