Obituary for Helen Adams

Rushmore, Minnesota

     Helen Adams, 86, was born on October 30, 1921, in Osceola County, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Hattie (Bartholomaus) Fry.  She attended school in Rushmore.  Helen married Edward Adams on March 7, 1942, at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Rushmore.  They lived on a farm northeast of Rushmore until Eddie was drafted.  At that time, Helen moved into Rushmore.  After Eddie’s return from the military, they worked for various farmers in the area.  Eddie died on March 1, 1956.  Helen moved back to Rushmore and worked at the Rushmore Produce and Bassett’s Locker until her retirement in 1982.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore.  Helen died on Sunday, April 27, 2008, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, Minnesota.
     Helen is survived by one son, Pudge Adams, of Worthington, MN; two daughters, Shirley (Doyle) Vis, of Rushmore, MN, and Carol (Gary) Kunerth, of Worthington, MN; one daughter-in-law, Barb Adams, of Rushmore, MN; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, and one sister, Lena Wiertsema, of Rushmore, MN.  She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Rodney Adams; one grandson, James Vis, and 12 brothers and sisters.
     Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, Minnesota, with the Rev. Bill Davis officiating.  Casket bearers will be Daniel Adams, Tim Groenewold, Alan Vis, Travis Vis, Jason Fisher, and Keith Maxwell.  Honorary bearers will be Corky Bassett and Carl King.  Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
