     Gerrit John Klumper, age 91, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2015, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, MN.
     John was born on July 5, 1923, in rural Worthington, to Berend and Tena (Doeden) Klumper. He was the 2nd child of five children.
     John attended school in Worthington, completing his high school education.
     He served in the United States Army as a Medical Technician, serving from April 17, 1943 to April 20, 1946. John was stationed in India, with his tour of duty including China and Burma. His decorations included the American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal prior to his Honorable Discharge in 1946.
     John married Myrtle Morawetz on August 18, 1948, living their entire married life in Worthington, until his death. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary last August.
     John began working at Worthington Creamery and Produce in 1940 at age 17, and retired from Campbell Soup Company in 1986 after 46 years of employment. He was a bus driver on the afternoon route for ISD 518 for 16 years. Following retirement he worked as a Bailiff for Nobles County and enjoyed following his grandchildren’s activities, helping on the farm, fishing, and bowling. John also enjoyed singing, playing guitar, and yodeling.
     He loved his family and was deeply loved by them. He loved our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with his whole heart.
     John was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ben and Fred, two sisters, Margaret and Marie, and a grandson. He is survived by his wife, Myrt; son, Wayne (Dea) Klumper of Worthington, MN; daughter, Sandi Mead of Worthington, MN, and daughter, Karen (Jon) McCormick of Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Dr. Daren Flinck officiating. Burial, with military rites performed by the Worthington VFW and American Legion, will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
    Visitation will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
