Worthington, MN

     George Harm Heidebrink, age 78, was born on August 8, 1937 on the farm by Rushmore, MN, the son of Harm Sr. and Anna (Boots) Heidebrink. He attended Country School at District 115 south of Rushmore. George married Shirley Vogt on March 7, 1958 at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN.

      George served in the National Guard. He worked at the Albert Jacobs Farm for 8 years. George worked for Consolidated Coop for 25 years and retired on September 1, 1994. After retirement he enjoyed helping deliver vehicles for Mick’s Repair in Worthington, MN. He also enjoyed helping deliver flowers for McCarthy’s Floral in Worthington.

      George was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Rushmore, where he served as a trustee and an elder.

      George loved golfing, fishing, playing cards, traveling, camping, hunting, and watching his grandchildren play sports. His greatest joys were his family and friends.

      George died on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 with his family by his side at Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.

      George is survived by his wife of 57 years Shirley, two daughters: Debra Grimmius Sioux Falls, SD; Donna (Pat) Janssen Worthington, MN; one son: Keith (Trisha) Heidebrink Worthington, MN. Six grandchildren: Sarah Sigala Sioux Falls, SD; Christopher (Ila) Grimmius Aberdeen, SD; Michelle (Lonnie) Kalas Slayton, MN; Marc (Heather) Janssen Bigelow, MN; Zachary Heidebrink Jackson, MN; Eric Heidebrink Worthington, MN and nine great grandchildren. Five brothers: Fritz (Leona) Heidebrink Bigelow, MN; Virgil (Amy) Heidebrink Sun City, AZ; Harm (Harriet) Heidebrink Jr. Buffalo, MN; Leo (Thelma) Heidebrink Worthington, MN; Duane (Marilyn) Heidebrink Madrid, IA; two sisters: Ruth (Frank) Perrin Valle De Oro, TX; Lois (Tom) Anderson Windom, MN; In-Laws Dixie Vogt Rock Rapids, IA; George Jr (Donna) Vogt Hartford, SD; Betty (Larry) Rosenberg Slayton, MN; Gordon Vogt Louisville, KY; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

      He was preceded in death by his father Harm Heidebrink Sr., mother Anna (Boots) Heidebrink, brothers: Lawrence, Jacob, and Robert Heidebrink, sister Melvina Thompson, sister-in-law Ardis Heidebrink, father and mother-in-law George and Anna Vogt, brother-in-law Bill Vogt, sister-in-law Henrietta DeVries, nephew Jim Vogt, and two grandchildren Leo and Krista Grimmius.

      Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 10:30 a.m., at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore, MN, with Pastor Paul Snyder officiating. Casket bearers will be Jerry Heidebrink, Greg Heidebrink, Bruce Heidebrink, Scott Heidebrink, Tom Heidebrink, Brian Rosenberg, Mike Vogt, Bruce Miles, and Scott Ahlschlager.  Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

      Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and also on Saturday, March 5, 2016, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore.

      Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
