Obituary for Fredericka Amelia Martin

Worthington, Minnesota Fredericka “Rickie” Amelia Martin, 101, was born on June 11, 1904, in Broadlands, Illinois. She was the daughter of Frederich and Augusta Benschneider Frenz. Rickie married George C. Martin on March 23, 1923, in Mason City, Iowa. She lived in Iowa and Wisconsin before settling in Worthington, Minnesota, where she had resided since 1941. Rickie was a faithful member of the First Lutheran Church, where she served as a teacher, choir member, and was active in many organizations. She was giving and compassionate, loved to go on long walks, and enjoyed life with a bright smile. Her favorite color was Red! She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Rickie died peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, Minnesota. Rickie is survived by a daughter, Connie (Loren) Markuson, of Burnsville, Minnesota; granddaughter, Kari Halvorson; grandson, Peter Jon (Susan) Martin; two great grandchildren, Nick and Lucy, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Harold Martin; daughter-in-law, Ardis; grandson, Gregg Martin, and ten brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, Minnesota, with the Rev. Richard Ricker officiating. Casket bearers will be Ron Hallstrom, Roger Larson, and Albert Selberg. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery. Family prefers memorials. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2006, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
