Obituary for Frederick E. Davis Sr.

Worthington, MN

     Frederick E. Davis Sr., 76, of Worthington, died on Friday December 2, 2011 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield, MN.
     Born in Lake Crystal, MN on February 21, 1935, he attended trade school, worked at Bendix Corporation of Dayton, OH, and worked on small engines for several years until he moved to Worthington and started his own small engine repair shop, while owning and operating the Villa Trailer Court.  Fred married Darlis Wendel on June 25, 1956 in Nashua, IA. 
     Fred enjoyed drinking coffee with friends, gaming, riding motorcycle, and trapshooting in his younger years.
     He is survived by his sisters, Lorna (Howard) Carl of Ohio and Melba (Averal) Dawley of Mankato; his children, Fred Jr. (Nancy Dehning) of Mankato, Scott of Lake Crystal, Daniel of Rochester, Jodie (Aaron) Johnson of Worthington and Julie of Texas; grandchildren, Jared Davis, Tyson (Candy Brumbeaugh) Minski, Danielle Davis, Nathan Johnson and Matthew Grimmius and great grandchildren, Kyleana (Tyson) and Lanyla (Danielle). Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlis (Wendel), parents, Everett Vernon Davis and Bertha Ann Ellen (Hutchens) and sister, Sally Winters.
     The services will be at Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN, on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with fellowship of family and friends.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sunset Hospice Cottage in memory of Fred and his loving wife, Darlis.
