Obituary for Frederick Donald Immens

Rushmore, Minnesota

     Frederick (Fred) Donald Immens, 70, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
     Fred was born in rural Rushmore on October 16, 1939, to Henry and Jannette (Jacobs) Immens. He attended grade school in Rushmore and high school in Worthington. He grew up on the family farm in Rushmore, and continued farming there until his retirement.
     Fred and Carla (Jansen) Immens were married on July 31, 1959. They had two children, Kevin and Denise. They were later divorced. Fred and Jane (Olberding) Immens married on June 27, 1970, in Randolph, NE. They had three children, Dawn, Pamela, and Gina. They were later divorced.
     Fred took great pleasure in spending time with his grandchildren and family. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, meeting his friends for coffee, and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He had been to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally several times until ill health prevented his attendance.
     Fred is survived and greatly missed by four children, Denise Wagoner and sons, Douglas and David of Sonoma, CA; Dawn (Brad) Shaffer and daughters, Brittney, Emily, Morgan, and Madison of Worthington, MN; Pamela Immens and son, Logan of Wilmont, MN, and Gina (Jeremy) Pratt and daughter, Brianna of Spencer, IA. He is also survived by three sisters, Grace Caster of Worthington, MN, Doris Dahlhoff of Brewster, MN, and Helen (Tom) Louk of Fayetteville, NC; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin, and two sisters, Gladys Reinalda and Grace Freida Immens.
     Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 22, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor James Krapf officiating. Casket bearers will be Brandon Caster, Robert Caster, Bill Conway, Roger Dahlhoff, Jason Harberts, and Leroy Hoffenkamp. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Rushmore.

He was our father, our brother, our friend.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2010, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and one hour prior to the service.
