Obituary for Elizabeth Helen Giesinger

Worthington, MN

     Elizabeth “Betty” Giesinger, age 81, of Worthington, MN, left her earthly home on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington.
     Betty was born on January 19, 1932 in Onaka, SD to Egnatz and Teresa Gabriel.
     Betty was united in marriage to Joseph Giesinger in Lake Andes, SD on October 23, 1950.  They made their home in Sioux City, IA, and later moved to Worthington, MN.
     Betty worked at Sather’s Cookie Company for eleven years.
     Betty enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary’s school cafeteria and church; she also participated in the Meals on Wheels program.
     Betty’s free time activities included fishing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, sewing, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and friends.
     Betty is survived by her four children, three sons, Robert (Jolene), James (Barbara) and Anthony and daughter, Paulette (John) Rhoten; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; sister, Ann Mary Lentz and two brothers, Lawrence and Leo Gabriel.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, six brothers and three sisters.
     Funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father Will Thompson officiating.  Casket bearers will be Norvel Lentz, Dewayne Nicolls, Brandon Giesinger, John Rhoten, Chris Scantarelli and Jeremy Nicolls.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Worthington.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
