Obituary for Elaine Faye Lolkus

Worthington, Minnesota

     Elaine Faye Lolkus, 58, was born on July 24, 1950, in Slayton, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Artie (VanEck) Lolkus.  She attended grade school in Chandler, Minnesota, and graduated from Worthington High School’s Class of 1968.  While attending Worthington Junior College, Elaine worked at Campbell Soup Company.  She then moved to Marshall, Minnesota, where she received her Degree in Criminal Justice from Southwest State University.  Elaine worked for the Department of Corrections as a Probation Officer in Cottonwood County until April of 2008.  She was very well respected in her profession and was a good influence to the kids she worked with.  She was fiercely independent and very strong throughout her battle with multiple sclerosis and cancer.  Elaine loved to cook and bake and have family and friends over.  She also enjoyed shopping, playing cards, knitting and spending time with her nieces and nephews.  Elaine died on Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, Minnesota.
     Elaine is survived by two sisters, Carol (and the late Glen) Eggleston of Worthington, Minnesota, along with their daughter, Charlotte (Ed) Hudgins of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Shari (Jerry) Dale of Worthington, Minnesota, along with their son, David (Christy) Dale and their children, Jeff, David, Christian and Kyra of Sherburn, Minnesota, and their daughter, Dawn (Mike) Hauth and their children Meagan, Kody, Cami and Ryan.  She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, Joanne, a niece, Roxanne Taylor, and her brother-in-law, Glen Eggleston.
     Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at 10:30 a.m., at the Worthington Christian Church in Worthington, Minnesota, with Pastor Ron Ahlgren officiating.  Private family burial will be held in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
