Obituary for Dorothy Mae Hitzemann

Worthington, MN

      Dorothy Mae “Dotty” Hitzemann, age 85, was born on February 3, 1930, in Hudson, SD, the daughter of Conrad and Ella (Olson) Hove. She spent her childhood years in Hawarden, IA. Dotty married Robert Hitzemann from Akron, IA on September 2, 1948. She worked at various jobs including McDonald’s for 20 years, Woolworths, Campbells and a jewelry store. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Dotty died on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the South Shore Care Center in Worthington, MN.

      Dotty is survived by her children, Betty (Gary) Vogl, Barbara (Ralph) Garberson, and Dennis (Margaret) Hitzemann; nine grandchildren, Shelly, Michael, Richard, Kevin, Melissa, Jennifer, Ben, Katy, and Camille; 17 great grandchildren, one brother, Conrad, and numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; parents Conrad and Ella; son James; five brothers Thomas, Oris, James, Harlan, and Harris; sister Betty, and two granddaughters, Cassie and Crystal.

      Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Bailey Fossum officiating. Casket bearers will be Michael Vogl, Richard Garberson, Kevin Hitzemann, Oris Wayne Hove, Greg Liston, and Jerry Liston.  Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.

      Visitation will be held on Monday, September 21, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.
