Obituary for Dorothy Clara Nasers

Worthington, MN

Dorothy Clara Strouth Nasers was born September 1, 1922 to Clara (Seivert) Strouth and Nicholas Strouth in Ashton, IA. She graduated from St. Joseph High School and lived briefly in Waterloo, IA, before being called home to take care of her siblings after her mother passed away in 1942. She later earned her teaching degree from Buena Vista University. She taught in country schools in Osceola County, Iowa, and later at the Junior High in Milford, Iowa. After marriage she taught at St. Mary's school in Worthington, MN and touched many lives and loved the experience of working with teachers and students.

On November 22, 1958, Dorothy married Roy Edward Nasers. They made their home on a farm near Sibley, IA, where they welcomed their three children, Edward, Lorna and Ruth. The couple moved to Worthington in 1968. They embraced the agricultural way of life throughout their lifetimes, and together milked cows, raised hogs and grain farmed. They were very proud to have passed on a love of agriculture and their work ethic to their children and grandchildren.

In 1988 they also purchased and began operating a John Deere franchise, Worthington Power and Equipment, which remained family owned for 25 years.

Dorothy lived a full life surrounded by family and friends. She enjoyed friendships made being a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, U and I Garden Club, the Ewington Goodwill Club and the Worthington Country Club. She also enjoyed the friends she and Roy made with business associates through their many work endeavors as well as family time at the family cabin, or traveling.

Dorothy passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters; Lorna (Todd) Kruger and Ruth (Jim) Putnam and grandchildren, Tracey (Klint) Sauke, Ted Kruger, Jay Kruger and Kendra (Cody) Petersen, Genevieve Putnam, Nicholas Putnam and Margaret Putnam. She was preceded in death by husband, Roy and her son, Edward.
