Obituary for Donald F. Homan

Worthington, Minnesota      Donald F. Homan, 82, was born on August 9, 1924, in Alton, Iowa, the son of Charles and Pauline (Mousel) Homan.  He grew up on the family farm and attended country school in Iowa, until moving to the Slayton area.  He served in the United States Army during World War II in Italy.  Don married Marie Wallace on September 5, 1951, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington.  He worked for Consolidated Coop in Worthington for 36 years until his retirement.  Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Golden Kiwanis of Worthington.  He also was a “500” card club member for many years.  Don had a love for golf, casinos, word search puzzles, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.  He was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan.  Don died on Thursday, September 14, 2006, at the Worthington Regional Hospital.     Don is survived by one daughter, Diane (Gary) Trosin, of Mound, Minnesota; three sons, Steven (Alda) Homan, of Riverdale, New York, Dennis (Linda) Homan, of Hopkins, Minnesota, and Jeff (Cheryl) Homan, of Worthington, Minnesota; six grandchildren, Cody Trosin, Ethan Homan, Lee Homan, Jay Homan, Chelsea Homan, and Lance Homan; two sisters, Dee (Nick) DeGreef, of Zimmerman, Minnesota, and Pat (Vince) Haegle, of South St. Paul, Minnesota, and two brothers, Marv (Darlene) Homan, of Trimont, Minnesota, and Harold (Shirley) Homan, of Maple Grove, Minnesota.     He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie, in 2004, his parents, two brothers, and an infant brother.     Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 18, 2006, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, Minnesota, with Father Larry Brixius officiating.  Burial will be held at 3:30 p.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2006, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
