Dianne Denise Jones was born August 15, 1952 in Worthington, MN to Marvin and Irma (Gertonson) Sasse. She passed away at the age of 67 on Sunday, November 3, 2019.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Mark Schreiber officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Casket bearers will be David Sasse, Larry Sasse, Dan Sasse, Joel Sasse, Mike Sasse, and Julie Dahlin. Honorary casket bearers will be Sarah Teetzel, Elizabeth Engstrom Abbott, Jonathan Engstrom, Heidi Lampert, Missy Johnson, and Josh Sasse. Burial will be held in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Dianne was raised north of Worthington on the family farm and attended Worthington High School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington.
She loved animals especially her beloved English Sheepdog, Gwynneth, her rescue dog, Murphy, and her rescue cat, Mr. Piper. Dianne enlisted in the Minnesota National Guard in 1974 and served 2 years. She graduated from Worthington Community College and later attended the College of St. Scholastica.
Dianne married Robert Jones in June 1975 and later divorced. She lived in Rochester, MN for a number of years before moving to Worthington in 1992 where she resided with her mother. While in Rochester, Dianne was very close and supportive of her nieces, Sarah and Elizabeth, and nephew, Jonathan.
Dianne is survived by her mother, Irma Sasse of Worthington; her siblings including twin sister, Lynda (Sasse) Abbott of Rochester, MN, David (Jan) Sasse of Randolph, MN, Larry (Ann) Sasse of Savage, MN, Daniel Sasse of Ashton, IA, Luann Sasse of Luverne, MN, and Joel Sasse of Worthington as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Sasse, and her grandparents.
Memorials are preferred to Sunset Hospice Cottage.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
