      Dewis Emalyn (Bilsten) Ahlberg was born February 19, 1922 in Indian Lake Township to Albin and Myrtie (Johnson) Bilsten. She passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda, MN.

      She graduated from Jackson High School in 1940 and from McKennan School of Nursing in November, 1945. She met Gunnar when he was a patient at the Worthington Regional Hospital. They were married on August 2, 1946 in Spencer, IA. After their marriage, they moved to Puposky, MN where she worked at the Red Lake Indian Hospital and Gunnar owned a resort on Ten Mile Lake. She enjoyed her career as a nurse and worked several years at the Worthington Regional Hospital as the night supervisor. She always considered those she worked with as “family”. After her retirement, she volunteered with Hospice in Worthington, enjoyed many fishing trips to South Dakota with Gunnar, vacationing up north and enjoyed watching their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in the arts and sports. She was a member of the Minnesota Nurses Association and American Nurses Association.

      She was a member of the Worthington Christian Church where she was baptized at the age of nine after she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She served as President of the Women’s Council for many years and attended Sunday school classes to study the Bible. Her love of God was evident in her daily living and shared with her family. She treasured her family and always hosted a monthly birthday party for her family at her home. She was an avid reader and exceptional quilter and made bed quilts for each of her children and grandchildren.

      She is survived by her six children, Barbara (Henry) Greve, Worthington, MN, Steven (Pat) Ahlberg, Worthington, MN, Bernie (Sandra) Ahlberg, Worthington, MN, Bruce Ahlberg, Antigua, Guatemala, Janice (Denny) Vosburgh, Worthington, MN, Thomas Ahlberg, Worthington, MN; 12 grandchildren, Jared (Nicole), Travis (Brittany), Lucas (Sarah), Kim, Derek (Sarah), Hope Ahlberg, Danielle (Mohammed) Aldawood, Joseph (Pamela) Vosburgh, Annie (Justin) McKinney, Amber (Adam) Richter, Jenna Ahlberg, Megan (Michael) Mulvihill and 17 great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gunnar; two sisters and brother-in laws, Pearl and Leroy Olson and Marjorie and Robert Anderson; two infant brothers; daughter-in-law, Beth Ahlberg; nephew, Donald Olson, and in-laws, C Marie and Bernard Ahlberg, Carl and Leona Ahlberg, Warner and Emma Ahlberg, and Carl and Ruby Anderson.

      Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the Worthington Christian Church, 1501 North Douglas, Worthington, MN, with Pastor Doug White and Reverend Bruce Ahlberg officiating. Private family burial will be held prior to the funeral service at the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

     Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home, 1225 Ryan’s Road, Worthington, MN.
