Worthington, MN

      Dewey E. Anderson, age 93, was born on April 17, 1920, in Bonilla, SD, the son of Carl and Mildred (Litch) Anderson.
      The family remained in the Dakota’s throughout the 1920’s and after the death of three children and the mother, the remaining children and their father, Carl, moved to the Worthington, MN area where two children were taken care of by relatives.
      Dewey lived with an aunt north of Worthington and went to a country school in Iowa. After completing school he remained on the farm until 1942 when he and his cousin, whom he worked for, entered the military during World War II.
      In 1943, Dewey was sent to England where he worked as a photographer and photo lab technician in the 8th Air Force. He returned home in 1945. After leaving the military service, he began working for Nobles Coop Electric where he worked until his retirement in 1984.
      In 1946, Dewey and Ethel Holm were married and have made their home in Worthington since that time. They belonged to Westminster Presbyterian Church for over fifty years, where Dewey served sixteen years as a member of the church session.
      Dewey was also elected to Worthington City Council and served on the water and light commission and the municipal golf course committee. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, volunteering to deliver food to the pantry and woodworking.
      Dewey died on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, MN.
      Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, four brothers, two infant children, and daughter-in-law, Calena Anderson.
      Survived by loving wife of 66 years, Ethel; sons, Mike Anderson of Billings, MT and Tim (Kristal) Anderson of Wayzata, MN; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and one brother in Los Angeles, CA.
      Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, MN. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
