Obituary for Debra Rae Scharping

Worthington, MN

     Debra Rae Scharping, 54, was born on January 8, 1956, in Worthington, MN, the daughter of Ferdinand and Martha (Olson) Scharping. She worked for The Achievement Center in Worthington for many years and was a participant with the Special Olympics. Debra enjoyed bowling, music, and dancing. She had a very good memory, knowing most family members birthdates. Debra touched the lives of many and was a friend to everyone she knew. Debra died on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at her residence in Worthington, MN.
     Debra is survived by her siblings, Ruth (Myron) Sievert of Bloomington, MN, Alice Tuttle of Sioux Falls, SD, Carolyn Kruse of Okabena, MN, Lois (Larry) Shelton of Garvin, MN, Marilyn (Robert) Sorenson of Worthington, MN, Diane Reinertson of Cedar Rapids, IA, and Dale (Sally) Scharping of Brewster, MN, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Earl; brothers-in-law, Edward Paplow, Gerald Sanders, Leonard Roslansky, Eugene Tuttle, and Marvin Kruse; one sister-in-law, Dawnes Scharping, and one niece, Linette Voehl.
     Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, MN, with Rev. David McDonald officiating. Debra’s nephews will serve as casketbearers. Burial will be in the Hersey Cemetery near Brewster, MN.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.

In lieu of flowers, family prefers memorials.
