Obituary for David Ivar Martinson

Brewster, Minnesota

     David Ivar Martinson, 55, was born on November 11, 1952, in Worthington, Minnesota, the son of Ivar and Hazel Sachen Martinson.  He lived on a farm north of Brewster.  David attended school in Brewster, graduating from Brewster High School in 1970.  After graduation, he attended one year at Jackson Vocational School.  David was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, where he was baptized and confirmed.  He served as a trustee, funeral usher, and a Sunday usher for many years.  David worked for area farmers and farmed with his dad on the family farm.  He also worked at various town jobs and was last employed at Schaap Sanitation.  David enjoyed all kinds of car races, football, basketball, hunting, and fishing.  He ran the chains for 30 years for the high school football games.  David died on Saturday, April 5, 2008, at his home in rural Brewster.
     David is survived by his parents, Ivar (Hazel) Martinson, of Brewster, Minnesota; one brother, Thomas Martinson, of Brewster; uncles; aunts, and cousins.
     Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at 1:00 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster, Minnesota, with the Rev. David McDonald officiating.  Casket bearers will be Donald Obermoller, Bruce Burnham, Ronald Luitjens, Tom McCarvel, Ron McCarvel, and Robert Kirchner.  Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Brewster.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, Minnesota and on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Brewster.
