Darlene Hessel was born September 11, 1934 to Melvin Hunt and Esther Madison in Magnolia, MN; she died peacefully in her sleep January 1, 2020 in Luverne, MN at the age of 85.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, brother, 2 nephews, son in law and the love of her life David Hessel. Darlene and Dave married November 27, 1954 and had 5 children. Darlene is survived by her kids, Mike (Irene), Diane, Jon (Kris), Dena and Elizabeth, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters, nieces, nephews plus 4 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.
Darlene enjoyed spending time with her kids, cross stitching, quilting and gardening. She was an avid reader and a whiz at crossword puzzles but most of all she was a loving wife and mother. She will be missed by many and the memories of her will be held in the hearts of those who loved her most. Darlene chose to be cremated and requested a private service.
