Daniel Marvin Beerman was born to Marvin and Rosemarie Beerman on August 19, 1947, in Worthington, MN. The second oldest of 9 children, he grew up on a dairy farm near Brewster, MN, and began doing chores and milking cows at a young age. The love for the farm, for cattle, and for God’s sovereignty over all things set his sights on one day owing his own farm and herd. Dan graduated from Brewster High School in 1965.
Dan was a lifelong learner, and gained much knowledge working alongside his father, who was a dairy farmer and mechanic. In his adult life, he loved using his abilities to repair cars, trucks, tractors (and the list goes on) not only for himself, but also for neighbors and friends.
Dan met the love of his life playing checkers (not Linda’s favorite game) at a secret destination party for the youth group of Worthington Christian Church. A few months later, on a hayride, he always claimed she took his hand, and the rest was history. Dan and Linda Peters were married on August 2, 1968, in Worthington.
In March of 1970, the couple moved south of Iona, MN, where they began their dairy farming adventure together. Dan loved his cows and treated them as friends. He looked forward to seeing them each morning to begin a new day. Dan milked cows for 56 years after beginning that chore on his father’s farm at age 13. At the time of his passing, he was still actively farming and enjoying his small herd of stock cows.
In addition to his farming, Dan’s life revolved around his faith and his family. He was baptized into Christ as a teenager and loved the work of the church. One young friend said recently that Dan’s heart beat for Christ. He was a strong, godly man. Kindness and gentleness were part of his daily life. He was active in sharing his faith by teaching, leading, serving, and mentoring others coming behind him. He enjoyed fixing and maintaining the baptistry along with other various areas of the church. He loved to share God’s Word; he filled the pulpit in surrounding communities, as needed, and was a member of the Gideons. One of his favorite things to do was to take communion to those who were shut-in or confined.
Dan and Linda enjoyed 53 years together, raising their family of four children, and several foster children. Over the years they enjoyed several trips throughout the United States and beyond. Dan thoroughly enjoyed time with family, especially his 15 grandchildren.
Dan is survived by his wife Linda; daughter Ranell Beerman of Yuma AZ; Melissa (Ryan) Elder and their children Taylor, Alexis and Abbigail of Burnsville, MN; Mark (Heather) Beerman and their daughters Shekinah, Ellyanna, Sophia, Natalia, Jordana, Estella and Acacia of Lewiston, MN; Peter (Krista) Beerman and their children Brayton, Ranissa, Tayden, Anayah and Selah of Slayton, MN; foster daughters Darla Halstead of Arapahoe, NE and Merrily Hinrichs of Ellsworth, MN, and foster son Brice Bergland of Slayton, MN.
Dan is also survived by siblings Judy (Darwin) Stahl, David (Debbi) Beerman, Bruce Beerman, Carolyn Beerman, Norma (Robert) Dittman, Brian (Jeanette) Beerman, brother in law Marc Postma, many nieces and nephews, and beloved family on the Peters’ side. He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Rosemarie Beerman, sisters Sally Beerman and Brenda Postma, in laws, Virgil and June Peters and brother in law Scott Weber.
Dan died on October 14, 2021, at Murray County Medical Center in Slayton, MN at 74 years of age. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Worthington Christian Church.
