Obituary for Dale Henry Hietbrink

Worthington, Minnesota      Dale Henry Hietbrink, 84, was born on March 29, 1923, in Holland, Nebraska, the son of Grant and Helen DeVries Hietbrink.  He grew up on a farm in Nebraska and served in the United States Army and the Military Police during World War II.  After returning from the service, he began farming near Wilmont, Minnesota.  Dale married Dorothy Lockwood on December 29, 1948, in Worthington.  After their marriage, they bought a farm northwest of Worthington, where he farmed until his retirement.  Dale was an active member of the American Reformed Church in Worthington, serving as an elder, deacon, Sunday school superintendent and teacher.  He was involved in Men’s Brotherhood and enjoyed music and singing in choir, duets and quartets.  His family was very important to him.  Dale died on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at the Avera McKennan Hospice Unit in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.     Dale is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Worthington; six children, Gary (Sherri) Hietbrink, of Worthington, Dennis (Cindy) Hietbrink, of Primghar, Iowa, Cheryl (Bob) Scholten, of Annville, Kentucky, Tim Hietbrink, of Worthington, Sheila (Jim) Jensen, of Fairmont, Minnesota, and Kevin Hietbrink, of Brewster, Minnesota; eleven grandchildren, and three great granddaughters.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Aileen, two brothers, Gene and Warren, and two daughters-in-law, Linda Hietbrink and Ann Hietbrink.     Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2007, at 10:30 a.m., at the American Reformed Church in Worthington, Minnesota, with the Rev. Irwin VanLeeuwen officiating.  Special music, “I Want to See My Savior First of All” and “What a Day That Will Be” will be provided by the Gospelaires Quartet, Chris Wynia Gary Hietbrink, Paul Schutte, Mike VanVoorst and Nancy Hofstee, pianist.  Pallbearers will be Eric Hietbrink, Jason Hietbrink, Paul Hietbrink, Micah Hietbrink, Tyler Jensen, and Torey Schroeder.  Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Hietbrink, Adam Hietbrink, Matt Mydland, and Adam Blume.  Burial, with military rites, will be held in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, Minnesota, and on Friday, April 13, 2007, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the American Reformed Church in Worthington, Minnesota
