Obituary for Clarence Belvinius Abrahamson

Worthington, MN

Clarence Belvinius Abrahamson, age 98, of Worthington (formerly of Wood Lake, MN), passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN. A Memorial Service for Clarence will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at Christ Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, MN, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial of cremains will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Cottonwood.
Clarence was born on March 28, 1918 in Canby, MN to Mads and Hansena (Kruger) Abrahamson. He grew up on a farm west of Hanley Falls, attended country and “town” schools and was baptized and confirmed at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls.
On November 10, 1940, Clarence was united in marriage to Inez Carlson at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church in Hanley Falls. They made their home on a farm near Hanley Falls. In 1947, they moved to a farm east of Wood Lake and moved into town in 1967 where they remained until moving to Worthington in 2008. Clarence was a farmer at heart and enjoyed gardening until he was 95.
Clarence enjoyed golfing, camping, hiking and wintering in Arizona for 32 years. His trophies for pool playing were evidence of his skill at that sport. He loved spending time with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by children: Jean (Vern) Bastian of Worthington, MN, Barbara (Ken) Lydell of Des Moines, WA, Sandra (John) Weins of Longville, MN and Thomas (Karen) Abrahamson of Marysville, OH; grandchildren Brian Lydell, Mark Lydell, Michael Abrahamson and Steven Abrahamson; four great grandchildren and “adopted” son and daughter, Dwight and Susanne Coffey of Hampton, New Brunswick, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Inez and his parents.
The Benson Funeral Home of Worthington is caring for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church or Sunset Hospice Cottage.
