Byron L. Baumgarn, was born July 3, 1937, in Jackson, MN the son of Lester and Eleanor (Schoellerman) Baumgarn. He attended and graduated from Sioux Valley High School. Byron married Marlene Bieber on November 24, 1957 in Rost Township. The settled on the family farm in rural Round Lake, in Jackson County. Byron enjoyed time with his family, farming and fishing his family pond and out in Chamberlin, SD. He enjoyed watching grandkids show cattle and got a smile when the great grandkids visited. Byron and Marlene spent several winters in South Padre, Texas. They also traveled to Canada, Mexico and several other states. They enjoyed taking the whole family on yearly vacations. Byron was a long time member at St. Matthew Lutheran Church serving as an Elder and was a previous president of the Jackson County Cattleman’s Association. Byron died on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center in Worthington.
Byron is survived by his wife Marlene; two sons, Lowell (Pat) Baumgarn of Round Lake and Timothy (Sherri) Baumgarn of Round Lake; two granddaughters, Samantha (Travis) Vande Kamp of Brewster and Amanda (Jake) Weber of Lake Benton; three great grandchildren, Bristol and Colton Vande Kamp and Abilene Weber; step granddaughter, Angie (Jeff) Bauer of Lake Park, IA; and one step great grandchild Jada Soussi; one brother, Jack (Carol) Baumgarn of New London, MN; one sister Janice Broderick of Myerstown, PA.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington with Pastor Mark Schreiber officiating. Casket bearers will be Travis Vande Kamp, Jake Weber, Shane Garloff, Gregg Leckband, Bruce Hill and Ryan Hill. Honorary bearers will be Amanda Weber, Samantha Vande Kamp, Jada Soussi, Bristol Vande Kamp, Colton Vande Kamp and Abilene Weber. Burial will be at the Worthington Cemetery.
