Obituary for Bonita Mae Dodgen

Bonita M. Dodgen, 80 was born on August 5, 1928 in Tracy, MN the daughter of Jesse and Grace (Hoover) Custer.  She was raised in Harlan, Iowa where she attended and graduated from school. Bonita married Charles Dodgen on December 28, 1947.  They moved to Worthington where she raised their family. Charles died in September 1978. Bonita was a waitress her whole life, she had worked at several different restaurants in Worthington.  She had lived at the Atrium for nearly twenty years.  She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, going to coffee, watching television, especially M.A.S.H., spending time with her family.  Bonita died on Friday November 28, 2008 at Sanford Regional Hospital Worthington.  

    Bonita is survived by two daughters, Marjorie Starling of Worthington, MN; Ann (Harry) Kirlin of Avoca, MN; two sons, Charles (Corrine) Dodgen of Apple Valley, MN; Larry (fiancé Mendy) of Worthington. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, one brother Charles and one sister Laverne and her parents.              

    Funeral services were at 10:30 am on Tuesday December 2, 2008 at the Worthington Christian Church with Pastor Ron Ahlgren officiating. Casket bearers were Shane and Brian Kirlin, Travis and Brian Dodgen, along with Michael and Tony Singsaath. Honorary bearers were Amanda Smith, Christena Dodgen, Brianna Dodgen, Dorothy Starling, Rachael Burnette and Bonnie Starling. Burial was at the Worthington Cemetery.   

    Visitation will be from 5 to 8 pm on Monday December 1 at Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and 9:30 to 10:30 am Tuesday at the church.
