Obituary for Betty June Bremer

Worthington, MN
    Betty June Bremer, 76, was born on June 21, 1933, in Worthington, MN, the daughter of Hosea and Anna (DeFreese) Griswold.  She attended school in the Worthington school system.  While in high school, she worked at Worthmore Ice Cream, was a summer lifeguard at the lake, and played in the city band.  After high school graduation, she worked at Silverberg’s Department Store in Worthington and then moved to Denver, CO, in 1951.  While in Denver, she worked at Porter’s Clothing Store.  In 1952, she moved back to Worthington and married Worrell Bremer at the American Lutheran Church.  She was a homemaker while traveling with Worrell as he built churches around the area.  Upon moving to Round Lake, MN, she worked at Sather Cookie Company for 25 years.  She and Worrell retired together.  Betty enjoyed sewing, quilting, golf, travel, fishing, and family.  Both Worrell and Betty worked with crafts and enjoyed sharing them with others.  Card club and the Red Hat Society were a few of Betty’s fun organizations.  Betty died on Friday, October 30, 2009, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington, MN.
     Betty is survived by her husband, Worrell of Worthington, MN; two daughters, Barb (Jim) Wendling of Darwin, MN, and Lori Anderson of Richfield, MN; four grandchildren, Ross (Jessica) Wendling of Dassel, MN, Kyle Wendling of Hutchinson, MN, Melissa (Matt) Reed of Faribault, MN, and Jeff Anderson of Wells, MN; one great granddaughter, Norah Wendling, and one sister-in-law, Evelyn Bremer of Luverne, MN.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Geneva (Griswold) Wyer, and two brothers-in-law.
     Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Rev. Richard Ricker officiating.  Casket bearers will be Gordon Bremer, Dwight Bremer, Jeff Anderson, Melissa Reed, Ross Wendling, and Kyle Wendling.  Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
 
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 2, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
