Obituary for Bertha Wilhelmina Anderson

Worthington, MN

Bertha Wilhelmina (Lubben) Anderson, 84, passed away on February 1, 2017, at their home after a courageous battle against cancer. Bertha was born on November 2, 1932, at their family farm in Ewington Township to William and Dorothea (Mittelstadt) Lubben. She attended Round Lake School. On April 25, 1950, Bertha was united in marriage to Duane R. Anderson, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN. Jesus saw that she was growing tired and decided that it was time to take her to her Heavenly Home.
Bertha was a caring, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. Bertha put God first in her life and then her family. She will be missed greatly- all her words of wisdom shared and lessons instilled within us. Beautiful memories will be treasured forever in many hearts.
Bertha had a passion for her home daycare business, volunteer work, bowling league, her flower gardens, Red Hat Society Events, 500 Card Club, dancing, snowmobiling and cycling with her husband. Baking cookies for her family and friends brought much joy – especially around Christmas time. Bertha also enjoyed taking many photos of memories shared. Other jobs she held throughout her years included Fred’s Cafe, Log Cabin, Tempo and as a School Aide in Worthington.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving and faithful husband, Duane, of over 66 years together; daughter, Sharon, of Mankato, MN; son, Roger, of Worthington, MN; daughter, Barb (Scott) Zinnel, of St. Louis Park, MN; and daughter, Cindy, of Jackson, MN; twelve grandchildren, Trevor, Nickole, Nate, Jeremy, Brian, Mari, Angie, Joe, Mitch, Ben, Katie and Brittany; twenty-one great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Grace Jansen, Worthington, MN; one sister-in-law, Donna Lubben, Buena Park, CA.
She was preceded in death by their infant son, Steven, parents, three sisters – Erna, Hilda, Carolyn and four brothers – Victor, Eugene, Robert and LeRoy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Gary Andersen officiating. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
