Obituary for Auren John Williams

Worthington, MN

     Auren John Williams, 68, was born on July 6, 1942 in Worthington, MN, to Forest and Margaret (Blume) Williams. He grew up on the family farm east of Worthington and attended Worthington Public Schools. He worked at Down Town Texaco and after his marriage to Carole (Miller) Newman in 1964 he worked for Fred Schaap and Harley Waltjer. He later went on to start his own construction business with backhoe work and hauling gravel. His favorite hobbies and past time included model trains, working on motors, and welding things together from scrap metal. He was a man who could make friends with strangers and enjoyed having coffee every morning with his friends.
     Auren accepted Jesus as his personal Savior in 2005. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2010 and passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Prince of Peace Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.
     Survivors include his children, Michael Williams of Bigelow, MN, Tammy (Scott) Williams of Minot, ND, and Heidi (Marty) Schroer of Fulda, MN; one sister, Marlene (Bill) Mosberg of New Prague, MN; one brother, Lowell Williams of Worthington, MN; 11 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Danielle Soth.
     His parents, one sister June (Jerry) Wolf, one son Travis Williams, one granddaughter Makayla Schroer preceded him in death.
     Memorial serves will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Scott Peterson officiating. A family burial will be held in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the Benson Funeral Home Chapel.

Benson Funeral Home is coordinating the arrangements.
