Obituary for Arthur "Elden" Good

Arthur “Elden” Good, age 90, was born on March 25, 1928, in Worthington, MN, to Arthur and Clara (Wahl) Good. Elden grew up on the family farm by Reading and then Bigelow and attended school until the 8th grade when he quit to help his dad farm full-time; as his brother, Floyd, had been drafted into the U.S. Army.
On August 31, 1948, he married Roberta Nelson, daughter of Arthur and Leona Nelson, in Worthington. To this marriage there was born two daughters – Connie and Glenda. Connie was born February 10, 1950 and died of injuries in a farming accident on October 24, 1962. Glenda was born August 10, 1958 and is married to Roger Lais and lives in Worthington.
Elden farmed for over 60 years in the Bigelow area. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Worthington where he served as an usher for over 60 years.
In 1990, Elden and Roberta built their retirement home on Moon Circle in Worthington. Roberta died January 20, 2003. Elden spent the next ten years wintering in South Texas in the City of Alamo. He enjoyed the warm winters and the friends he made there. Elden passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Ecumen Meadows in Worthington, MN.
Elden is survived by his daughter, Glenda and her husband Roger Lais, Worthington; one grandson, Dustin Neugebauer and his wife Tiffany, Bigelow and his two great grandchildren, Dyson and Kinsley Neugebauer, Bigelow.
Elden is also survived by his two nieces, Janet Good, W. St. Paul and Elaine (Ken) Bauman and their family of Byron, MN; his wife’s nieces, Jane (Glen) Larson, Forest Lake, MN, Bonnie Nelson, Minneapolis, and Vicki (Kurt) Wheeler, Minneapolis; his special friend, Julie Hohensee, Worthington; Doug and Judy Boneschans and his Bigelow friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta; daughter, Connie; parents, Arthur and Clara Good; brothers, Floyd Good who was killed in action in 1945, Ken Good and his wife Olga and John Good and his wife Marilyn; his only sister, Violet Rowlands and her husband Swift; his parents-in-law, Arthur and Leona Nelson; his brother-in-law, Harold Nelson and his wife Violet and Elden’s nieces, Diane Good, Sharon and Oscar Thomas and Lily Rose.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Worthington, MN, with Pastor Jeanette McCormick officiating. Casket bearers will be the ushers of First Lutheran Church that he had the privilege of being included in the group. They include, Terry Neugebauer, Bob Bents, Doug Christensen, Midg White, Jim Russell, Justin Luinenburg and John Luinenburg. Burial will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 2, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, MN.
