     Arloine Navara, 93, of Worthington, died on Sunday, January 23, 2011 at the Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, MN.
     Born Dorothea Arloine Patrick, on March 8, 1917 in Curran, IL, she was the daughter of Ross Patrick and Daisy McChesney Patrick.
     Following the death of Ross Patrick in January 1919, Daisy moved to Brewster, MN, bringing her children, Ivan, Eula and Arloine with her. Brother Dwight was born July 1919.
     Daisy married Herman Nelson, and they moved to a farm near Okabena, MN. She died from pneumonia in 1922.
     Arloine was adopted in 1929 by Fred and May Belle Petty of Brewster, MN. She attended Brewster Public Schools, graduating from High School in 1933. She married Laurence Navara on September 2, 1935 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN. Laurence died in August 1992.
     Arloine worked at many jobs in her lifetime including the East Side Café in Lakefield, The Brewster Tribune, The Gobbler Café, St. Mary’s School Cafeteria, The Thompson Hotel Café, and Fred’s Plaza 66 Café. She also managed her own café for several years.
     She was an active member of St. Mary’s Church for 75 years as a member of the Guild’s, Lector, Greeter, Eucharistic Minister, Bread of Life Prayer Group, and The Prayer Chain.
     She volunteered her time to many organizations including the Nobles County Historical Society and Pioneer Village. She was also a Brownie Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Leader.
     Her hobbies included making quilts and wall hangings which she shared with her children; writing short stories, especially about her home town of Brewster (many of which were published in the Daily Globe); and baking delicious rolls and cookies.
     Arloine is survived by her children, Jerrell (Darlene) Navara of Forest Lake, MN; Stephen (Dawn) Navara of Wells, MN; Raymond “Pete” (Cheryl Avenel) Navara of Worthington, MN; Thomas (Barbara) Navara of Worthington, MN; and Theresa Navara of St. Louis Park, MN. Twelve grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren also survive her.
     A memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father James Callahan officiating.
     Interment, with a private family service, will take place this spring in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:30 am on Saturday at St. Mary’s Church in Worthington.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic School Endowment Fund.
