Obituary for Amy Elizabeth Benson

Minneapolis, Minnesota     Amy Elizabeth Benson, 39, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, died on Sunday, December 10, 2006, in the Robbinsdale Rehabilitation Center in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, after battling lung cancer for over four years.     Amy was born on January 26, 1967, in Worthington, Minnesota.  She was the only daughter of Joyce and Jon Benson and the younger sister of Christopher Benson.     Amy was educated in the Worthington Public Schools and graduated in 1985.  She continued her education at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, where she graduated with honors.     After completing her education, she moved to the Minneapolis area, where she worked for a time at the Fingerhut Corporation and then for a medical laboratory in Minnetonka, Minnesota.     She was married to Scott Rozek for a short time and they lived in Anoka, Minnesota, until their divorce.  She then moved to Robbinsdale, where she lived until recently when she located in Minneapolis.     Amy was fluent in the German language and had traveled to Europe a few times.  She loved animals and owned tropical fish and exotic birds.     She is survived by her father, Jon Benson, and step-mother, Judy, of Worthington; her brother, Christopher, of Worthington, and a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce, in 1988, and her grandparents, Lorna and Harold Benson and Ernest and Erma Allar.     Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington, Minnesota, with the Rev. Michael Zaske officiating.  The organist will be Sylvia Andersen.  The hymns will be “I Was There To Hear Your Borning Cry” and “Lord Of All Hopefulness”.  A private burial service of her cremains will be held at a later date.
