Obituary for Alva Anna Morrison

Alva Anna (Wiese) Morrison was born May 21, 1916 in Round Lake, MN to Ernest and Lisa (Busch) Wiese. She shared this day with her twin brother, Alvin. When Alva was three, the family moved to a farm near Okabena, MN. Alva attended school and graduated from Okabena High School. In her high school years, she participated in band, Glee Club and basketball.
In 1936, Alva married her high school sweetheart Clarence Morrison. They lived on a farm near Milona, MN. In 1957 they moved to the Morrison home place near Okabena. For many years Alva and Clarence spent winters in California, where they enjoyed being near their son Glen and his family. In 1991 Clarence passed away, a year later Alva moved to Worthington, MN.
Alva was strong in her beliefs and never doubted that God would take care of her. She was a confirmed, lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Okabena. She was sincere, caring, and gave unselfishly through many hours of volunteer work. She enjoyed playing cards and entertaining friends and family. She had a flair for making people feel welcomed and loved. Those who knew her will always remember her laugh, her smile, her sense of humor and her zest for life was ever sharp.
Alva passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Sibley Specialty Care in Sibley, IA.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son-in-law Larry Leckband of Ocheyedan, IA; seven grandchildren, Laurie Bergren, Mark Leckband, Sheri (Paul) Kellen, Julie (Greg) Eilers, Amber (Tom) Taylor, Desiree (Jeff) Kane, Melissa (Randy) Bohn; seventeen great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; sister-in-law Joyce (Rusell) Stahlke, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents Ernest and Lisa Wiese; husband Clarence Morrison; brothers, Harry and Alvin; sister Clara; son Glen Morrison; daughter-in-law Sharon Morrison; daughter Vonna Leckband and grandson Joey Morrison.
A Celebration of Life will be held in June of 2022.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Alva’s honor to either the Sibley Specialty Care Center in Sibley, IA or St. John’s Lutheran Church in Okabena, MN.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
