Obituary for Alice Louise Persing

Alice (Axdahl) Persing was born on July 25, 1930 in Granville, IA to Arthur and Mabel (Hansen) Axdahl. Alice grew up on a farm outside Iona, MN and attended school in Fulda, MN. On November 16, 1950 she married Clarence (Dick) Persing at the Sacred Heart Church in Brewster, MN. Alice worked from home doing upholstery while taking care of the family. Alice was a past president and a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Wilmont, MN. Alice always seemed to have time to help anyone in need, from making wedding dresses, wedding cakes and corsages or just listening to you when you needed someone to talk to. Alice was always busy, but never too busy to be there if you needed her. Among her many hobbies were her dolls, of which were here pride and joy. Some she crafted from clay, some from rags and some she would just pick up at a yard sale, all of which she would make new clothes and repair as needed. She enjoyed showing them off to anyone around. Alice and Dick and other families dressed as clowns for hospital visits and parades. Alice proudly made all the clown outfits. What a talented and gifted woman, there was nothing she couldn’t do.
Alice passed away at the age of 89 on March 26, 2020 under hospice care in Worthington, MN. She was survived by two daughters, Wanda (Roger) Renken of Worthington, MN and Sharon (Ray) Lopez of Redding, CA; four sons, Robert (Richard) of Oldsmar, FL, Dale (Diana) of Prescott Valley, AZ, Glenn (Barb) of Worthington, MN, and Joe (Merle) of Heron Lake, MN; one brother, Arlen Axdahl of Titusville, FL; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Dick Persing); son Lyle; daughter Marjorie Ann; granddaughter Amanda Persing; son-in-law Roger Renken; two sisters, Julia Ann Axdahl and Ida Mae Longie, and two brothers, Donald and Duane Axdahl.
Private family graveside services will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Worthington, MN.
Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.
