Obituary for Albert George Jacobs

Worthington, Minnesota      Albert George Jacobs, 83, was born on March 15, 1924, in Ransom Township, the son of Henry and Hilda Alberts Jacobs.  He attended District 89 public school in Dewald Township. Albert married Lorraine Groenewold on September 9, 1948.  After marriage, the couple farmed south of Rushmore, until moving into Worthington in August of 1985.  After retiring, Albert still enjoyed going out to the farm to help his son, Dennis.  Albert was a former member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, south of Rushmore, where he was a Sunday School Teacher, Elder, and Deacon.  He was a delegate to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA in Houston, Texas in 1981.  He served on the Bigelow School Board.  Most recently, he was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington, where he was an Elder and served on the Property Committee.  Albert was a volunteer for the Red Cross, a Gideon member, and a Golden K Kiwanis member.  He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  Albert died on Tuesday, July 3, 2007, at the Sunset Cottage in Worthington, Minnesota.     Albert is survived by his wife, Lorraine, of Worthington; four daughters,  Norma Cook, of Worthington, Vonnie Reff, of Carrollton, Texas, Lois (Jerry) Reuter, of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and Janelle (Duane) Bryngelson, of Circle Pines, Minnesota; one son, Dennis (Jane) Jacobs, of Rushmore, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and one sister, Dora Jacobs, of Worthington.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Gertie Jacobs and Darlene Engelkes, and a son-in-law, Charles Cook.     Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2007, at 10:00 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Clary St., in Worthington, Minnesota, with the Rev. Jim Krapf officiating.  Albert’s grandchildren, Jerry Cook, Alex Reff, Matthew Reuter, Barry Jacobs, Justin Jacobs, and Paul Bryngelson will serve as casket bearers.  Albert’s grandchildren, Cathy Sloan, Nathan Reuter, and Ryan Bryngelson will serve as honorary bearers.  Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2007, at the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington and also from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2007, at the church.
