Obituary for Agnes Mary Brandt

Agnes Mary Brandt was born to Ben and Anna Lutterman on December 8, 1931 in Slayton, MN.  She was one of the twins born that day – to add to the already eight children. The family moved to Sherburn, MN in 1934, and she began school in Jay township and graduated from Sherburn High School in 1950.

On February 4, 1952 Agnes was united in marriage to Vyrn Brandt of rural Alpha, MN.  The religious ceremony took place at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn, MN at which Fr. George Foffel officiated. Of this marriage 10 children were born.

A beautiful wife and mother, the first of 10 children was born in 1952, the last in 1969. In 1955, after her husband returned from the service, they with two children moved to a farm near Alpha and farmed for eight years. As the crops in the fields started and continued to grow, so did her family as six more children were added. In 1963, a move was made to Reading, MN and two more children were born and that completed the family. In 1964 she began working at the Coliseum Ballroom in Worthington, MN.  She was employed there until joining the staff at the Fauskee Nursing Home; she retired from that gratifying work in December of 1993.  In January of 1995 she and Vyrn started traveling south for the winter.  They loved traveling, so in 1999 they started full-time RV-ing, traveling all over the US for 10 years before settling down at Homestead in Worthington in 2009. While living in the Worthington area, she was involved with the WCCW at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was always ready to help with funerals and other activities.
